Dr. John Beigel is currently at Leidos Biomedical Research supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). He has been at the NIH since 2000. Dr. Beigel leads a portfolio of several multi-center international, treatment studies for influenza (including plasma therapy and combination antivirals). He also helps lead a clinical research network in Mexico that performs natural history and treatment studies on ILI and SARI, and he conducts smaller early development studies at the NIH. Recently, he has also supported NIAID’s response to Ebola, both by leading the phase 1 VSV vaccine and leading the execution of an international treatment study for Ebola in Sierra Leone. He attended the Medical College of Ohio, residency at the University of Cincinnati, a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the National Institutes of Health and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
